The British Army run a regular programme that is based around a theme and allows industry to showcase their products. The process goes through stages starting with the paper submission, followed by a presentation to a selection board and then if successful ending with a 4-week field trial.
Our engineer worked with various companies to develop the paper submission with an integrated soldier system for the dismounted close combat soldier. Providing guidance on the trials scenarios and helping to write the documentation we took the system through to the following stages. On behalf of the manufacturer we helped present to the selection board and then develop the training material. Finally, we were on call to assist during the trial phase if there were any technical issues as well as attending on the trials.
The system was taken through to the trials phase and received a glowing report from the Infantry Trials Unit that tested the system. After the trial we assessed the trials unit report, providing a full process report from initiation through to final trial. Finally, we carried out a lessons learnt exercise and report.
